High on a city hill they named it ‘The Prospect’. After the view I suppose from its back door. It had to be the view. The Prospect of Leeds an imposing terrace of houses painted white, set against the city skyline. That dark and dirty city skyline. A Inn of some repute, a  rough and ready tavern. The Artist

As he walked into his garden the artist was presented with a beautiful sight. The sun shining, dew glistening on the grass. The garden stretching out before him. Flower beds bursting with colour and life. First thing coffee, then to work in the studio. The rambling old Victorian house, so untidy. A world of maps, books, half-finished paintings and art materials. Dust covered furniture, dark empty rooms. A dark empty place. His night had been spent like many before drinking himself to a point of unconsciousness. Many years had passed since his wife had left him to his wild destructive lifestyle.…
